This page includes examples of work experience that I have completed and achieved over the past few years at the University of Canberra. Each example that I have provided, presents certain skills that are needed in careers in the media and communications field. Some skills include developing a broad understanding of communication in digital and social media and the ability to communicate at a high level of written, oral, visual, social and problem-solving skills.

Artefacts and Rationale | Professional Practice 2 11018

This year, I took part in an internship at the Australian Bureau of Statistics as part of my university degree. Through my experience as a Social Media Team Member and strong written and verbal communicator, I gained an understanding of monitoring and moderating social media comments, engagement and posts for the 2021 Census. In this report, I provide explicit information on the role and responsibilities that I undertook whilst at the ABS, including social media Engagement Registers and Daily Social Media Reports.

'When in Canberra' | Digital Engagement and Analytics 11104

I gained a passion for social and digital media through my experience as a team leader and strong written communicator through managing the social media account @whenincanberra, developed at the University of Canberra. The @whenincanberra Instagram account was produced and implemented as a ‘tour guide’ campaign with the University of Canberra that aimed to highlight and promote Canberra as a fun and liveable city. I was able to gain an understanding of social media metrics and analytics and social media content strategies, including appropriate tone and voices to target audiences, content creation, call to actions and content calendars.

Workplace Research Report | International Internship 11504

In early 2020, I undertook an internship through the University of Canberra at the Strategic Public Relations Group Sdn Bhd (SPRG) in Malaysia. In the report below, it examines and evaluates how public relations and public affairs occupations are practised in the country of Malaysia. I will be focusing on specific cross-cultural communication comparisons between these professions and discuss the similarities and different approaches to industry practices and client relationships in both Australia and Malaysia. The report also examines my involvement in these PR/public affairs approaches whilst at the SPRG. I assisted in developing proposals for clients, and assisted the consumer team in the preparation for the sportswear brand PUMA’s #StepToTheZone Media Launch campaign. I participated in a variety of internal and external events/meetings, including the Youth Task Force of Foreign Affairs and Diplomacy Meeting for the Diversity and Inclusion Youth Conference (DIYC) project that was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
